He writes, “The moment you decide to no longer think the same way, act the same way, or live by the same emotions… get ready, because you’re going to step into the river of change.”

And that river? It’s uncomfortable. It’s full of little inner children screaming for their candy.

The Inner Child & the Nervous System

Recent neuroscience has shown us that the ability to regulate your nervous system — moving from fight, flight, freeze into calm presence — is not just emotional. It’s physiological. And for many of us, it’s a skill we never got to fully learn as children.

When your nervous system is dysregulated, your inner child can hijack your mind and body in an instant. You feel impulsive. You disconnect. You react instead of respond. And without awareness, you keep reinforcing the belief that you’re out of control.
